A unique cultural event on the full moon of September is co-organized by the Municipality of Mykonos, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades, and The Greek Plan in Delos. An exceptional concert with selections from the musical work of Dimitris Papadimitriou based on poems by Greek poets from the antiquity to the present day.
An evening of poetry and music where the light of the holy island of the Aegean is still lit, inspiring and giving hope to the world.
In the first part of the concert, which will be dedicated to Apollo, we will hear not only the Homeric hymn to Apollo, but also the composer’s much-loved musical pieces based on works by Greek poets such as Odysseus Elytis, Michalis Ganas, Manolis Anagnostakis and Manos Eleftheriou and emblematic lyricists such as Lina Nikolakopoulou, Odysseas Ioannou, Giorgos Kordellas with the voices of Yiannis Kotsiras, Veronikas Davakis and Giorgos Florakis.
In the second part, when night falls, the Homeric hymn to Artemis will be heard, composed by Dimitris Papadimitriou for Delos with the voice of soprano Myrsini Margariti. Actor Konstantinos Markoulakis will read excerpts from the works of poets who were inspired by the light of Delos. Dimitris Magginas will be the presenter of the event.
The project is directed by the award-winning Mykonian director Antonis Theoharis Kioukas.
The concert will be recorded and broadcast by ERT.
