With deep love and respect for their roots, the Zouganeli family revives a past Chorio in the area of Maou, Ano Mera.
According to tradition, Chorio on the island of Mykonos is an autonomous residence which consists of a set of independent buildings, in which the family used to produce the livelihood of its own land and domestic animals.
This is a journey through the history of the original Mykonos back in time. In the heart of the island, through the traditionally decorated house, folklore workshops, lush gardens, domestic animals, secluded routes, sunburned women with scarves on the head and men with callused hands from the plowing, are all revived. Moments under the light of an oil lamp, sometimes silent, sometimes full of songs and laughter.
Nowadays, Chorio is the wood oven that bakes the bread and the food of the day. The place we produce our cheese. The vineyard we take care of and make our wine. The garden with our vegetables, the trees with the juicy fruits. Chorio is what our family calls home with its door open to continue the tradition, welcome visitors and offer unparalleled hospitality and an experience full of traditional colors, aromas and sounds.
During the cooking workshop, guests enjoy a complete guided tour around the farmstead and participate in the preparation of their lunch. Depending on the recipes, they collect the appropriate fresh ingredients and after the tour they meet the cook at the open-air kitchen in the main yard. He informs guests about the local products and they all prepare the dish. When ready, they enjoy lunch or dinner together along with local wine and tsipouro.
