Group installation “TAPISSERIE” [Tapestry], is presented at the Municipal Gallery of Mykonos in a co-organization with Naxos Festival.
The exhibition was first presented during summer 2022 at the historic Bazaios Tower in Naxos, to great acclaim. The contemporary weaving loci of the participating visual artists converse with the timeless weaving tradition of Greece, defining other ways, exploring new materials, devising self-taught methods of handcrafting, and proposing innovative woven landscapes; offering aesthetic, plastic and symbolic annotations and solutions in the process and the endless possibilities of weaving.
Using cotton, flax, wick, burlap, wool and silk, wire, textiles, threads, handmade paper and cardboard, jute, sisal, reeds and woods, dyes and rags, they explore, redefine and recreate the timelessness of the art of weaving.
On the occasion of the exhibition, weaving workshops for both children and adults along with further activities are being programmed.
